2024 Cadillac Escalade vs. 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Ballwin, MO

With up to 750 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque, the all-new 2025 Escalade IQ is gearing up to be Cadillac’s most powerful SUV. While the electric powertrain is very unlike the combustion engine that powers the gas-only Escalade, there are many other ways in which the two SUVs differ. Below, we’ll take a look at their main differences and help you decide which of the Escalades is best suited for you.

Comparison:

Exterior

While they both bear the Escalade name and share many design features, the two SUVs look dramatically different.

The Escalade IQ is heavily inspired by the Cadillac Celestiq concept, leading to a bespoke front grille, headlights, wheels, and even taillights. The electric Escalade also gets larger wheels, riding on 24-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch tires — compared to 22-inch wheels with 33-inch tires for the regular Escalade.

That said, both Escalades still have many parallels when it comes to style. The headlight blades, beltline body crease, hood sculpting, and rear liftgate are all similar, with only minor variations.

Interior

Though they have about the same exterior size, the Escalade IQ’s lack of V8 gives it more room to work with. Instead of a massive engine under the hood, there’s a 12-cubic-foot front trunk, large enough for two golf bags. The center console is also deeper, and a rear center console is available, providing even more interior space for knickknacks. Both SUVs seat up to seven people, with second-row captain’s chairs and a folding third-row bench.

The infotainment is larger in the electric Escalade, which combines a 35-inch driver display with a 25-inch passenger display, effectively resulting in an enormous screen that spans nearly the entire length of the dashboard.

Not that the gas-powered Escalade’s infotainment system is small: with 38 inches of OLED real estate, that’s still more than just about any other vehicle on the market. One notable difference is that the Escalade IQ will not have Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ smartphone integration, relying instead on a Google-based operating system.

Performance

The regular Cadillac Escalade is powered either by a 6.2-liter V8 engine or a 3.0-liter Duramax® turbodiesel six-cylinder, either of which can be paired with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Maximum towing capacity is 8,200 pounds and maximum power output is 682 horsepower in the Escalade-V model, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 4.5 seconds. The Escalade IQ gets standard AWD, and it is more powerful, with up to 750 hp with the Velocity Max drive mode activated.

However, it is also about 2,000 pounds heavier, resulting in similar acceleration as the gas Escalade, and very slightly lower towing: 8,000 pounds max. GM is anticipating a maximum electric range of 450 miles for the Escalade IQ.[1]

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ is heavier, more spacious, and equipped with more technologies than the 2024 Cadillac Escalade, as expected given its higher starting price.
